Collaborations are bustling down Drève Anna Boch at the moment, and we love it! Our friends from Menaresta (Milan region, IT) celebrate each year the anniversary of one of their favorite beers: Verguenza. To celebrate, they've asked a few friendly breweries to reproduce their recipe, but with their own equipment, methods, and yeast... It's an interesting exercise in style, one we've eagerly embraced! With VERGUENZÀ SUR SENNE, we're taking a journey from the United States to Italy, but with a detour through Brussels! It's indeed a heavily hopped American-style Double IPA. The beer was developed by our Italian friends, but fermented in Brussels with our house yeast. Like all De la Senne beers, it has been refermented in bottles and in kegs afterwards. It’s an amber-coloured beer and slightly hazy, due to the massive dry-hopping. In the nose, it's exactly what you'd expect: a fruit explosion! Tropical fruits - including plenty of mango – but also orange, grapefruit, melon and peach take the lead. All this gets mingled with equally tropical floral notes. It also develops a slight resinous side reminiscent of pine needles. The biscuity-malty aroma and the powerful bitterness give it structure and balance, making Verguenzà sur Senne a real beer of character. It clocks in at 7.5% alcohol. (330ml Bottle)
