Dampfbier Steam Bier is a historically inspired example of traditional German Beers, brewed according to the original recipe of brewery founder Wolfgang Pfeffer, dating back over 133 years. This 5.0% Lager style reflects the roots of Bavarian brewing heritage, combining history, craftsmanship, and character in every pour.
Brewed in honour of Wolfgang Pfeffer, who founded the brewery in 1889, this beer pays tribute to the early days of Bavarian brewing in the Bavarian Forest. At the time, wheat and hops were scarce, leading to the creation of an innovative top-fermented beer using barley malt instead of wheat malt. This adaptation resulted in the unique “Steam Beer” style that continues to define this historic brew.
On the palate, Dampfbier Steam Bier delivers a smooth malt-driven profile with light caramel notes and a gentle hop bitterness. Its fermentation process, carried out in open wooden vats at warmer temperatures, creates lively carbonation and a distinctive, crisp mouthfeel.
